High fantasy, low stakes – with a double-shot of coffee.

After decades of raising hell, Viv the orc barbarian is finally hanging up her sword for good. Now she sets her sights on a new dream – one that involves pulling more shots than punches. Armed with hope and a hard-earned secret, she plans to open the first coffee shop in Thune.

To build something that will last, Viv needs a new crew. She enlists a gruff hob builder shunned by humans, and a shy baker whose cinnamon rolls are to die for. Then there’s Tandri, a charming succubus who’s determined not to let anyone assume anything about her.

But Thune has a shady underbelly that keeps goading Viv to take up her sword once more. New enemies threaten her beloved coffee shop and rag-tag team. And Viv’s adventuring past isn’t so eager to leave her behind – or the fabled piece of loot she took with her.

What is Legends & Lattes?

Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree is the story a battle weary orc, Viv, retiring to follow her dream of opening her own coffeeshop.

However, the place she decides to open up shop has no idea what coffee is a challenge she didn’t expect, but is motivated to try but not alone. Soon she joins together with a baker with amazing cinnamon roles and a charming succubus who help her see that her dream isn’t far out of reach.

Legends & Lattes is a cosy fantasy that celebrates friendship, love and coffee.

My thoughts on Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree

I heard about Legends & Lattes through Bookstagram and Tik Tok which made much more intrigued to pick the book from my TBR earlier than I was expecting.

This book started my deep dive into the cosy sub-genre of fantasy and romance, which I never really heard discussed before but now it is much more popular. I haven’t read a cosy fantasy before but I am definitely hooked and will be reading so many more.

I really enjoyed the friendships and it is still filled with fantasy that I love. It definitely stands by the the high fantasy and low stakes.

I am definitely looking forward to the prequel and hope there are many more in this series.
