Thank you so much Casey for the interview. I love all your books and can’t wait for A Tangle of Fate.

Interview

What was your inspiration for When wishes bleed series?

I wanted to write a witchy book with someone who read the future through wishbones and add elements of Cinderella into the story!

How would you describe your process in writing a series compared to a standalone? Does the process differ compare to a duology?

With a standalone, you have one story arc. When you write more than one book, you have an arc for each book and each has to have their own unique beginning, middle, and ending while fitting into an arc that spans the entire series, so it’s a little more complicated, but writing both is fun!

How did you choose which character to focus the story?

I knew I wanted to write a book about Fate himself and kept picturing him trapped inside human form, but when I thought of the main female witch character, she came from the world I wrote in Gravebriar. So, I made it a mash-up!

What is your approach to world and character building?

Character always comes first for me. It’s what I relate to most as a reader. But the world has to be vivid and reflect the character and plot. I want to see and feel what it’s like to be in the character’s skin and to live in their world – with flaws and dangers.

What do you love about writing fantasy series?

I love writing anything that isn’t in this world but feels like it could be – that feels real all the same.

How would you describe A Tangle of Fate in five words?

Atmospheric, Magical, Romantic, Dire, and at times, Heart-rending

Did you have a favourite moment to write in either of the books in the series?

I always love writing the meet cute! When the two romantic leads meet.

What was your favourite book growing up?

The Giver by Lois Lowry and East of Eden by John Steinbeck

Do you have a favourite genre to read?

I mostly read fantasy and paranormal.

Check out Casey’s books on Amazon and pre-order A Tangle of Fate, releasing 18th August.
