Reading Recap
This year was such a great reading year for me. I am surprised by how many books I read overall and the breakdown each month is intriguing. Overall I read 985 books with June being my highest month with 116 books read.
My top genre this year was Romance with 763 books. I loved the Sports Romance subgenre and have discovered new authors I will continue to read next year. One of my goals this year was to branch out into new genres; I am so glad I did. I have discovered so many amazing independent authors that I plan on sharing in a blog post next year.
As part of my job, I read picture books to my students and try to read at least once a day to inspire them to read for pleasure themselves. I read at least 170 picture books to my students and they have discovered new favourites they will read themselves.
Reading Stats
This year I have read so many amazing books all from different genres. My main genre this year was romance, which doesn’t surprise me at all. I found that I could quickly read romance novels, which were often shorter so I could read multiple in one day. My next top genre was fantasy which is one of my favourite genres. Picture books are shown in this graph as I recorded the books I read to my class throughout the year.
Since starting to add books to Storygraph which I need to get better at (maybe a goal for next year), the mood breakdown of the books read is fascinating. I’m not much of a mood reader but I have read the most light-hearted books this year followed by emotional and adventurous. It will definitely show in my top reads this year the moods of the books read.
The pacing of the books read this year does not surprise me as I have read over 960 books, it makes sense that the pace of the books were more fast and medium than slow.
If you are looking to increase the number of books you read in a year, reading fast-paced books no matter the length will help you reach the larger reading goals.

I normally count down from 50 but this year I’m starting with my number one read and counting up to 50. I definitely have my top 5 in order but then it has gotten super hard to rank the books in order from there! I had a hard time limiting the books to a top 50.
