Thank you so much for the interview!
Interview
What was your inspiration for your different shifter romance series?
We love reading shifter stories! I love the idea of someone being fated to be together and that they would never, could never, love another person.
What drew you to writing romance?
We just always loved reading romance books. We never really gravitated towards other genres. We loved reading about others getting their happily ever afters and that’s what we wanted to write that too.
Did your process change writing a series of different lengths?
For co-writing, we have a pretty good system in place. Shaw outlines the book and writes her half (we decide what we want the word count to be before we start writing. Then Cameron writes her half and it gets sent to the editor. We tried doing every other chapter, or having one person write one characters POV and the other does the other POV, but it was messy. When we do it our way, it seems like it’s more seamless. We want people to think that one person wrote this and hopefully we’ve achieved that in our books.
How did you choose which character to focus the story?
For our books, we usually have the guy be a shifter and the girl be human. It adds a layer of tension right from the start because usually the heroine doesn’t know about shifters and their world.
What is your approach to world and character building?
For character and world building, we’ve kind of set up some rules. For shifters, we say that they only have one true love, their fated mate. We have rules about them shifting and living near humans and how they can be with their fated mate. We stick to those in our books.
Did you have a favourite moment to write in each series?
I love writing the meet cute! I love having that spark and setting the tone for the rest of the book. It’s cool to decide if it’s funny, unexpected, or just totally swoon worthy!
What was your favourite book growing up?
Hmm, I don’t know that I had a favorite. I used to love (and still do love) reading Johanna Lindsey books so maybe one of hers or Nora Roberts.
Do you have a favourite genre to read?
Romance! We love reading about characters falling in love and getting there happily ever after. I don’t think that it matters what kind of romance sub genre, just as long as it ends in a happily ever after!
