Emma Johnson has the worst luck. No really, she does. Murphy’s Law never applied to anyone better. If something can go wrong, it usually does. Thankfully she’s figured out a way to deal with her bad luck curse, by becoming a risk assessment analyst. Until she gets blindsided by her boss who decides AI is cheaper than her. Not only that but her apartment floods and it pushes her to the end of her rope. At the insistence of her best friend Jules, she decides to cross the sea to find the luck of the Irish, hoping a four-leaf clover can counteract her curse.

Conor O’Shea is one of the best MMA fighters in Ireland and if you ask him probably the world. He never loses and luck always seems to be on his side, except when it comes to dating. The women he attracts aren’t the kind to take home to Mum or Nan. His life is all about training so cutting out time to find a girl who’s more interested in him than his money or celebrity is tough to do.

One night at a pub and a handful of salt later Emma’s bad luck brings her face to face with the muscled fighter who finds her endearing and thinks she’s overexaggerating the power of luck. That is until his luck fails him days before a big fight.

Can he help her find her own good luck and get his back in the process? Or will their growing attraction to each other create more problems than their luck can handle?

What is Just My Luck by Rebecca Rennick about?

Just My Luck is the third book in the Gummy Bear series of rom-coms. This is a series of standalone novels that I have really been enjoying.

Emma Johnson, plagued by perpetual bad luck, finds herself unemployed and homeless after losing her job and suffering a flood in her apartment. Desperate for a change, she embarks on a journey to Ireland with her friend Jules in search of the legendary luck of the Irish, hoping to break her curse with a four-leaf clover.

Conor O’Shea, a renowned MMA fighter in Ireland, grapples with his own issues with luck, particularly in his love life. Despite his success in the ring, finding a genuine connection with someone proves elusive amidst his fame and rigorous training schedule.

A chance encounter at a pub leads Emma and Conor together, where their contrasting experiences with luck collide. As they navigate their growing attraction, they must confront whether luck truly influences their lives or if their connection holds the key to a brighter future.

My thoughts on Just My Luck

I absolutely adored the previous books in this series, and this latest installment lived up to my expectations and more. It delivered everything I crave in a rom-com: witty banter, heartfelt emotion, a dash of spice, and plenty of flirtatious exchanges.

The storyline was refreshingly unique, unlike anything I’ve encountered before. It left me yearning to explore Ireland myself, making it the ideal read for March or St. Patrick’s Day festivities.

This book strikes the perfect balance between sweet and spicy, akin to indulging in a steamy Hallmark movie. The chemistry between Emma and Conor is electric, evident from their very first encounter—it feels like they’ve known each other for a lifetime.

Overall, I found this book to be a delightful and fast-paced read. Whether you’re seeking the ultimate St. Patrick’s Day treat or simply adore rom-coms, this one is sure to captivate your heart.
