My Top 10 Favourite Authors and Why I Love Them

Authors on my auto-buy list

Hello fellow readers! Welcome to another post on my bookshelf! I have been reading many books in the last couple of years and have favourite authors. These are authors that I know I will love their books no matter the genre.

I do find it hard to pick these authors and they are in no particular order so there may be some honourable mentions at the end!

Favourite authors

Isobelle Carmody

Isobelle Carmody is an Australian writer of science fiction, fantasy, children’s literature, and young adult literature. She is recipient of the Aurealis Award for best children’s fiction.

When I was starting high school, I discovered the Obernewtyn Chronicles and they quickly became my favourite books to read. I grew up reading the series and absolutely loved the final book The Red Queen which was published in 2015.

Lynette Noni

Australian author Lynette Noni studied journalism, academic writing, and human behaviour at university before venturing into the world of fiction. She is the #1 bestselling author of The Medoran Chronicles, the Whisper duology, and The Prison Healer series. To date, she has won three ABIA awards and a Gold Inky Award, and her books are published in 19 countries across the globe.

I first discovered Lynette Noni’s Medoran Chronicles and read them so quickly. Since then I have read all of her books and definitely be buying any books she releases.

Rebecca Thorne

Rebecca Thorne is an author of all things fantasy, sci-fi, and romantic. She thrives on deadlines, averages 2,700 words a day, and tries to write at least 3 books a year.

I fell in love with her cosy fantasy books and have read most of her other books. Reviews can be found on my blog.

Travis Baldree

Travis Baldree loves stories, and telling them. He is the author of Legends & Lattes, a low-stakes cozy fantasy novel. He is a narrator too, and has loved the art since he first heard Frank Muller’s legendary work. He has lent his voice to hundreds of books (including his own).

Travis hooked me with Legends & Lattes and is now on my auto buy list. Reviews can be found on my blog.

Megan Wade

Megan Wade is a simple girl who believes in love at first sight and soulmates. She’s obsessed with happy endings and Hallmark is her favorite brand of everything.

I have read all her romance books and adore the curvy figure representation. Definitely check out all her different series.

Rebecca Ross

Rebecca Ross is an American author of young adult novels and adult fantasy, best known for her New York Times bestselling Letters of Enchantment duology

I fell in love with her Letters of Enchantment duology and now reading her other books! Looking forward to new releases. Reviews can be found on my blog.

Stephanie Garber

Stephanie Garber is the #1 New York Times and internationally bestselling author of Once Upon a Broken Heart, The Ballad of Never After, and the Caraval trilogy. Her books have been translated into thirty languages.

One of my favourite trilogies is definitely Caraval and I have loved the other books she has written too. Reviews can be found on my blog.

Jay Kristoff

Jay Kristoff is an Australian author of fantasy and science fiction novels. As of 2022, he has published 16 novels, both for adult readers and young adults. He currently resides in Melbourne.

I first discovered Jay Kristoff’s books through the YA series with Amie Kaufman and I am loving his Empire of the Vampire trilogy.

Amie Kaufman

Amie Kaufman is an Australian author. She has authored New York Times bestselling and internationally bestselling science fiction and fantasy for young adults.

I first discovered Amie Kaufman through her trilogy with Meagan Spooner- the Starbound trilogy and the Other Side of the Sky. I have read her trilogy with Jay Kristoff as well as her YA duology The Isle of the Gods.

Kerri Maniscalco

Kerri Maniscalco grew up in a semi-haunted house outside NYC where her fascination with gothic settings began. In her spare time she reads everything she can get her hands on, cooks all kinds of food with her family and friends, and drinks entirely too much tea while discussing life’s finer points with her cats.

She is the #1 NYT and international bestselling author of both the Stalking Jack the Ripper and Kingdom of the Wicked series, as well as her adult fantasy romance Throne of the Fallen. Her books have been translated into more than twenty languages.

I fell in love with the Stalking Jack the Ripper series and will continue reading all her books over and over again.

Rebecca Yarros is an American author. She is best known for the Empyrean fantasy book series, which will be adapted into a television series with Amazon; Yarros will serve as a non-writing executive producer. Yarros graduated from Troy University, where she studied European history and English.

I am enjoying her Empyrean fantasy series and debating checking out her romance novels.

Hope Ford is a USA Today Bestselling author of Steamy, Sweet, Satisfying Romance. She loves writing about small towns, swoony men, and curvy women that get their happily-ever-after. Hope’s home is in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains with her husband and two teenage sons.

Her MC romances are fantastic and she is another author that I have read all her published books.

A.K. Mulford

A. K. Mulford is a bestselling fantasy author and former wildlife biologist who swapped rehabilitating monkeys for writing novels.

She/they are inspired to create diverse stories that transport readers to new realms, making them fall in love with fantasy for the first time or all over again.

Fantastic fantasy novels and have been reading her latest upcoming book! Auto buy!

Katrina Nannestad

Katrina Nannestad is originally from Australia, and had a childhood surrounded by the laughter of happy children in rural New South Wales. Her adult life has been dedicated to raising children, teaching, perfecting chocolate chip cookie recipes, and indulging in a passion for storytelling. Through her writing, she expresses a celebration of family, friendship, and a sense of belonging, aiming to create stories that bring joy to the lives of others.

I love her Travelling Bookshop series for middle grade!

Kate and Jol Temple

Kate and Jol Temple and they write books for kids! Some of them love to rhyme and others do not. They have written over 26 books for kids from their best selling Bin Chicken series to their International Jr Fiction dog detective series The Underdogs and of course, Kate’s own middle-grade novel the fabulous Dangerous Business of Being Trilby Moffat.

I’ve been lucky to read the majority of their books and I love their writing style. Their picture books are fantastic and I read them to students.
